I spent eight years designing interfaces for companies you’d recognize, and the main thing I learned is that most software wants to be smaller than its roadmap allows. These days I build calm software at a tiny studio where the roadmap fits on an index card, tend the lab, and write notes when an idea survives a week in my head. The rest of the time I’m walking an aging greyhound along the canal while podcasts pile up unlistened.
